Carnatic music workshop

NEW DELHI: To preserve the rich heritage of the compositions of Carnatic lyricist-composer Sriman Tallapaka Annamacharya Sankeerthana or Annamayya, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam is starting a one-month project workshop here in the Capital with noted singer Garimella Kalyani beginning May 12.
The workshop will be held at Sri Devi Kamakshi Mandir on Aruna Asaf Ali Marg.
Credited with composing numerous songs in praise of Lord Venkateswara, the deity of the Seven Hills in Tirumala, Annamayya’s choice of words gives a mellifluous tone to his songs, charming the listener. In his prodigious literary career he has produced and composed about 32,000 songs, many of which have been widely acclaimed.
